Who is behind it
Dr. Elena Vargas Moreno, a mathematics teacher and specialist in the teaching of fractions based in Valencia, Spain, is the editorial lead and owner of the site. She sets the standards for accuracy and clarity in the explanations and for how they fit the Spanish secondary curriculum (ESO and Bachillerato, the two secondary stages in Spain, roughly grades 7 to 12 in the US).
- Doctorate in Mathematics Education, Universitat de València (2014). Thesis: “Estrategias visuales para la comprensión de fracciones en Educación Secundaria” (visual strategies for understanding fractions in secondary education).
- Master’s degree in Mathematics Education and a degree in Mathematics, both from the Universitat de València.
- More than 12 years of teaching in ESO, Bachillerato and teacher training.
- Refresher courses for teachers in the Valencian Community and educational innovation projects on rational numbers.
Her areas of work are visual and hands-on materials, the most common conceptual errors, alignment with the official Spanish curriculum, and the authoring and review of open educational resources.
How the content is made
Pages with a documented editorial review say at the bottom who did it and when. The editorial policy explains how texts are prepared, which sources are cited and how changes are recorded.
Languages
The site is written first in Spanish and is also available in English, French, Portuguese, German, Italian and Indonesian. If a phrase in any language could read better, tell us on the corrections page.
What you can check
Calculations run in your browser with BigInt integers, and the reduced fraction keeps the exact value. For example, 1/2 + 1/3 = 5/6. A decimal can be approximate: 1/3 ≈ 0.333 is not an exact equality. The calculation methodology explains the inputs, the limits and the difference between exact results and approximations.
